SMP Featured in issue of the Atlantic Magazine

SMP was featured in the Jan/Feb issue of the Atlantic Magazine. Included are links to NPR ‘Planet Money’ podcasts also featuring SMP.

Standard Motor Products, a leading manufacturer in the automotive aftermarket, was profiled and featured in the January/February 2012 issue of Atlantic Magazine. Based in Washington, D.C., The Atlantic covers news and analysis on politics, business, culture, technology, national and international news and everyday life.

The feature article, “Making it in America” was written by Adam Davidson, and is the “story of Standard Motor Products, a 92-year-old, family-run manufacturer based in Queens…It’s the story of hustle, ingenuity, competitive success, and promise for America’s economy.” The article touches many topics including the modern day manufacturing process, how SMP competes in today’s global marketplace, and what the future holds for manufacturing companies, like SMP.

The article follows several SMP employees from our Greenville, S.C. manufacturing facility and features an interview with our Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at SMP, Lawrence Sills.
