SMP Corporate Headquarters Renovation

Standard Motor Products corporate headquarters undergoes major facility renovations.

Standard Motor Products (SMP) has recently completed a major facility renovation to its corporate headquarters in Long Island City, New York. SMP has been headquartered here since the mid-1930's.

The new corporate lobby is the centerpiece of this major transformation. A beautiful, 6-foot polished-aluminum logo greets visitors as they enter the lobby on the 6th floor of the Standard Motor Products building. Further on are several striking exhibits, each displaying pieces of SMP’s rich heritage and showcasing SMP facilities and products.

Notably on the west lobby wall is the SMP History exhibit. This collage of historic photographs etched on aluminum, highlight SMP’s historic moments and key figures; providing visitors a glimpse of SMP’s impact on the automotive aftermarket industry (for more on SMP history visit smpcorp.com and select About Us, History). Rounding out the History Wall is a photograph depicting SMP’s CEO Lawrence Sills commemorating the 90th anniversary of SMP’s founding by ringing the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Closing Bell on July 29, 2009.

Opposite to this exhibit is an expansive collection of historic parts, tools, and artifacts. And just around the corner, on the way to the executive and marketing offices, is the SMP Facilities gallery showcase. Collectively these individual exhibits represent the diverse scope of SMP’s engine management and temperature controls manufacturing and engineering innovation. SMP brand products are manufactured and distributed globally through traditional as well as non-traditional channels. Featured in this collection is SMP’s newest engine management brand, Intermotor^™ Genuine Import Parts.

Through the Facilities Showcase and just beyond the lobby is the renovated and remodeled office space. Along with upgrades to the telecommunication system and the contemporary employee café; substantial office renovations provide an open, modern work environment that features spectacular New York City skyline views.

These renovations to its corporate headquarters symbolize SMP’s respect for its history as well as a firm commitment to the future.
